Gaining Ground at CUMC - Phase 1 In Full Swing

Thanks Janicki Logging!!

As it turns out a large expanse of property existed behind the church. Problem was that no one used this space because the lawn had been overtaken by blackberries, vine maple, and other assorted scrub vegetation. With the construction of the fourth habitat home in progress it seemed like a good time to reclaim the neglected property and turn it into something useful for both church members and our Habitat neighbors.

Phase 1 entails removing all of the undesired trees and vegetation, erecting a fence to make the area safe, and then replanting the lawn. Janicki Logging donated machinery and manpower to remove the old trees. Church volunteers cut the trees into firewood and helped chip the branches into mulch.

Once the lawn is established the congregation will decide the best plan for future use and enjoyment. A picnic area or perhaps a play field or both are just a couple of the ideas being discussed.

Stayed tuned for future updates.
