Construction At Central United Methodist Church
Visitors will observe major construction work occurring on our church building during most of the month of August.
According to Dan Symonds, our Lay Leader, the thrust of the project is to construct pitched roofs where we currently have leaking flat roofs. The Education Wing and the Fellowship Hall will have trusses added. R38 insulation is added to the new roofs. There are many new double pane windows.
Funds come from the sale of the Polte Road land to Habitat for Humanity and the sale of the Wicker Road Parsonage. Christopher Homes Inc is the general contractor, with subcontractors for roofing, electrical, mechanical, insulation and drywall.Construction is scheduled to be substantially complete in September.
Expect major disruptions in the Narthex and Blue room .Shorter disruptions will occur along all the perimeter walls both inside and outside in the landscaping. The Sanctuary should have minimal impacts.
We’re looking forward to enjoying the practical as well as aesthetic improvements to our spiritual home for years to come.
